How do I diagnose a failing POS PSU?
Three classic symptoms: (1) random reboots under load (cash drawer open, printer cutting), (2) USB peripherals dropping then re-enumerating, (3) capacitor 'bulge' or electrolyte residue visible if you open the case. A bench DC supply or known-good replacement PSU is the definitive test — substitute and observe.
Can I use a higher-wattage PSU as a replacement?
Generally yes — devices draw what they need, so a 250W replacing a 200W is safe. The reverse is not safe: undersized PSUs sag and overheat. Match the voltage rails and connector exactly; a 24V replacement for a 12V load destroys the load instantly.
Are aftermarket POS PSUs as reliable as OEM?
Quality aftermarket units from established switching-PSU suppliers (Delta, Lite-On, FSP rebranded units) are essentially as good as OEM — many OEM units are rebadged from these same factories. Avoid no-brand cheap units sold below market: the capacitor quality is the cost-cut, and they fail within 1-2 years.
Do you supply universal AC adapters with multiple plug heads?
Yes — for printer and small-device adapters with standard barrel jacks, we stock multi-output and multi-plug units suitable for service vans. Industrial PSUs with proprietary keyed connectors require the specific OEM cable.
